Front page (main task)

These were my original ideas for my magazine name i have FTT (from the top), Bass and Vision, i have experimented with all of the names in Photoshop using such effects as a Drop shadow and Bevel and emboss.

I got the idea for the names by using my commmon music knowledge but mainly reading through articles for example on Q magazine and NME magazine, i also went on music magazines to research key terms and to see what popular famous article writers use in there articles day in day out!

Out of the three of my main ideas i like FTT (from the top) it was a popular music term in many magzines i read and on many websites i viewed, i think it is a catchy title which is easy to remember and easy to refer too, i also like the way i have used an abbreviation like a huge music magaizne NME.

Bass was an initial idea of mine when we were first given the brief i thought it was catchy and an extremely popular and well know term in the music industry, the font style i chose in my opinion is old fashioned and the type you could maybe find on a type writer, i like this idea of font just simply because of its simplicty and therefore its sophistication. In the end when it came down to choosing the magzine name i didnt think Bass would look approiate at the top of a music magazine and that the font was as modern as i would of liked it to be and for those reasons i didnt choose this title.

Vision was another idea when we were given the brief, i think it is a fresh and contemporary word at the monet however it clearly doesnt fit in with the genre of a music magazine maybe a self help magazine but certainly not a music magzine. The font i used for Vision i really like it is called Hard Rock with a number of effects used for example Bevel and Emboss and a Drop Shadow. On the vision heading i particulary lke the burninf effect on the letter O of Vision in my opinion it gives off a sense of Rock and Roll for example burning possessions and living the rock star life style!

My original idea for my Main Task

This was my orginal idea for my front cover, using my image and logo together to test out ideas and to see if it would work together. In my opinion the picture is too dark with no lights brightening up the picture, the picture is also not perfectly in line for example i have cut his arm off and he looks like he has no hands, another disadvantage to this picture is that the background looks too dark and the bakground of the stone wall looks dirty and not very proffesional next time if i was in this sitiuation i would move the model to a cleaner background. The next time i take a picture for a front cover or my double page spread i will make sure that the model and the background is clearly bright i think this addition adds saphistication and a touch of class to the image. Finally i would make sure the model is clearly spaced out and all body parts showing for the necessary image not cutting off any bits of the model.
